I love the deign of this dress, the fabrics drape the body beautifully and skirt fabric is all the decoration needed without over powering the design. Simple yet beautiful.

Recycled Runway
We were given a new brief yesterday, recycle. We've got to look at designers that consider ethical and environmental factors and I've come across Katharine Hamnett. She is a truly inspirational designer that started in the 80 and is still going, trying to raise consumer awareness to the issues in the fashion industry, take a look

Triangles Circles and Squares Oh no!
I was asked to create some different design using these three shapes, one shape for each design and heres what they looked like:
The Circle design are my least favorite by far, I think they just don't work well compared to the other designs.
The right design is my favorite by far of all my designs, I think the chained triangles just work and would make a brilliant garment. the chained effect reminds me of knitted, crochet and lace pieces
Pattern blocks
Using the original image I've created different pattern blocks
Block pattern
Half drop pattern
Vertical mirror pattern
Horizontal mirror pattern
The horizontal mirror pattern is my favorite because I think it flows better compared to the others.

Shell pattern block
This is the half drop pattern created on photoshop. It has a distinctive diagonal pattern running parallel through out it.

Decay - Rust
For our surrounding brief I decided to look at decay as my theme.
The two artist that stood out the most both made art using rust but in different ways. Their art work has a elament of time and colour that is really insperational.
The first image is of a piece of work by Dan Dempster. He creates his work by submerging his work in the ocean and letting the natural world create the rust patterns so every piece is unique.
The second image is ark work by Tony Reason. He also creates work using rust, wax, copper and other metals on canvas.

Shell Filters
Using a more detailed stamp block, in a paler colour to soften the image and adding a coloured background to create the shell pattern block.
Base Relief Cut Out
Emboss Liquify Stamp
This is the original piece of work scanned in to edit. After drawing and shading using ink, I free stitched embroidered it on the domestic sewing machines. After uploading to Photoshop I cropped it and played around with the filters to get these effects.......

"Circle of Life"
All the branches are bare with no leaves on and from the decay new life has grown and so it goes on, every year
This has got to one of my favourite photos that I have ever taken, I'm still not sure why I like it so much, I just think its a really good photo.

These were my original scanned images, un-cropped and un-edited. I did these pieces of work in another class using a marbling technique on fabric and ink, bleach and free stitch on the sewing machine.
